2016, Uk two Vanlife, Van to Campervan conversion and Avebury

Well here is the Iveco van we spent hours working on, insulating and getting livable after deciding that traveling on foot was a bit much and lets try to live in a van and see how that works.

Warning: LOTS of photos on this page!

Around this time katy’s brother had a wedding and so we got all dressed up of coarse.

The VAN!

Here are the images of us getting the van insulated, this was a very long process that took much much longer than we realized! Iv’e added the photo’s in gallery mode so you can click on any imaged you would like to see bigger, this webpage is going to have a lot of photo’s on!

It was pretty much a mess when we first started, things needed cleaning and de-rusting

Next we had to primer and cover up, protect certain area’s, the silver material we cut which was designed as sound absorbing material, our theory was to use it to block out external traffic noise.

We took the van to a place where they could cut a nice big hole in the roof and insert a sun roof, it cost but was worth it.

The next phase was to insulate the van, this took HOURS and HOURS! warning for those wanting to convert a van to a camper-van, it takes time!
Every gap and spot was insulated with either Kingspan, or wool, we even spent ages deciding which materials to use.

Getting really stuck into it, this all took a few days or longer ? it’s hard to remember all I know is I was driving my dad insane hanging around, using all his tools and making his house a mess haha

I think the idea was that we hated being cold so that we would do a really good job of making sure this van was well insulated and cozy, wow feels like home now im wishing we never sold it!

More sorting out the wool and flooring, this was not cheap stuff too!

We spent hours looking into and researching insulation in order to make sure that our van did not sweat and that condensation did not build up inside.

Things beginning to come together here.

Next we started on the walls putting the wool up for super warmth, Then… It was time to start on the roof, now things got harder

It was hard to keep the wool on the wall! but the glue and our other attempts in the end kept it on, then it was time to add the original wooden boards back on to the walls

The ROOF! I would say this was nearly the hardest part but we finally got the kingspan up there, phew

More fun..

The part I was exited to set up as I always had an interest in Electronics, the Solar Panel’s

3x 180w panels cost us about £60-80 each I think, pretty good!

Once we had done the big bulk of work we decided to go to Savernake Forest for some rest bite, that forest is one of the best places to ground and connect to the spirit!

The following are some lovely photo’s from katy who is an expert at this kind of close up photography, thank-you katy.

Back to the van now and we have the battery and power setup

We decided to go to north England up to Cumbria.

Looks like we decided to go to Avebury!, more great photo’s from katy here.

More random pictures..

The almost finished photo’s!

A few months later and some how we had some crazy idea to sell the van ??????!!!!

Well there you go!
